Good afternoon pookies!!
is me again!! I had a super busy yet boring week: finished packing up my apartment in sweden and shipped everything I couldn't fit in my suitcase to my parents' house in France. Then I shipped myself to my parents' house!!
What I have enjoyed this week:
Don't tap the glass - Tyler the Creator
This album is sooo fun it is literally juste vibes!!! If you see me on the street bopping my head shaking my hips Walking on my tippy toes mind your business it is just me listening to ring ring ring and locking in
The liveship traders - Robin Hobb
Robin Hobb is a fantasy writer and probably my favorite one on top of that. All of her series are super original and interesting with such emphasis on interpersonnal Relationships without losing any of the epic tension typical of heroic fantasy. Some characters are incredibly endearing, others delightful to hate. I love reading fantasy in the summer, as it's super easy to get lost in the stories and bingeread intensely over a few days in a hamock over in my parents' garden. If you want something easy to read yet super hypnothising, I highly recommend giving Robin Hobb's work a try. Her classic, most famous series is called the 'Farseer' trilogy and it is really good. This summer, I gave a try to the Liveship Traders, a trilogy in the same universe as Farseer, except with PIRATES who sail on sentient ships linked to sailor families, which pass down their bonded ship over generations.
Drag Race France
For those not familiar, Drag Race or RuPaul's Drag Race is a drag queen tv reality show where they compete in a series of challenges covering fashion, comedy, dancing and more. It is super funny and endearing and overall great feel good Entertainment, though quality has been declining a bit over the years in the US seasons.
If you enjoy the Drag Race franchise, the French seasons are really incredible. The level is super high, the Queens are incredibly creative and funny and they seem so much more genuinely friendly and bonded to eachother than in the US branch. I think season 2 especially is absolutely insane. Right now they are broadcasting the first ever All stars French season, so I'm super happy to be in France to stay up to date with the episodes. And if you are following the series: I am rooting for mami watta (obviously) but also kam with her sailor moon runway aimed STRAIGHT for my heart... also I love misty phoenix she is underrated i think she is so cute!!Yoghurt bowls
What a great summer breakfast… I have been gorging myself on Alpro yoghurt mixed with chia seeds and topped with fruits and maple syrup for weeks now. Delightful. Show stopping. Incredible. this and cold brew lattes are the foundation of my maslow pyramid when it's over 25° outside.
Mixed signals from the universe
I feel like for the past couple of weeks I have been alternating with moments of extreme luck (getting a really awesome job! random sweet messages and good news from friends! got my degree certificate right in time for phd inscription deadline!) and moments of terrible luck (got fined 280 euros on the train :( uni administration giving me a horrible time :( technical issues rendering my English test inreceivable :( ). It's strange because I am not at all a superstitious person - I don't believe in any kind of higher power or force of the universe whatsoever, and I think luck is just feelings associated to the randomness of life. There's a certain chance of any event happening, and then however you feel about it determines if it was lucky or not. But I have been feeling oddly confused by this series of big highs and big lows, and frankly kind of tired. I think sometimes you just want your life to be at a stable 6.5... Specifically, what is unusual for me, is that I feel this weird dread about the next time I'll get a surge of bad luck, as if my random sparse stressful/negative events of the last few weeks say anything about my odds of something bad happening in the future. That's not how the world works!!! I just need my nervous system to get on my brain's level...
that's all my friends :D thank you for reading this ! This week I am on HOLIDAYSSSS with my friends from my bachelor's degree!! We are having a reunion in the south. I can't wait to share more about it soon
Love,
Axl :)
