Newsletter 1 (26/05)

Hello all, here's me taking an attempt at writing a little newsletter to share with the world (scary i know). I've been really enjoying writing emails to my friends with list of things I've been into, and after discovering the entire concept of web journal, I thought it would be fun and cute to have my own where I can keep an archive of those email's content. So here goes nothing I guess !!

What I've been into this week:

  • Bloodless by Samia

    Samia bloodless album cover

Probably one if not my favorite album of 2025 so far. Samia's songwriting is at its peak, combining both gutwrenching, straight-to-the-point one liners ("You never loved me like you hate me now" - Sacred) and slowburning metaphors that properly hit you on your 20th listen ('Firmly trying to use your tail to conjure a new brain / Even though we both know it just works the one way'). To me, the album deals with the feeling of depossession of oneself that comes with being in love, or even just with lust. I could write pages and pages about it but I'll contain myself, but just know it's a great album, and you will especially like it if you relate to feeling idealized by a partner / taking offense in being known / being torn between comforting to people's idea of you and craving to be unpredictable, impulsive, wild.

  • Taking a walk and yapping

I had the pleasure of being visited by my friend Ethan this week! We mostly spent our days walking around in the sun while maintaining a perpetual conversation about everything and nothing. Things we were both into included: pinkpantheress, being vegan, online RP, medieval rings. Mostly I'd like to share a few pictures of the beautiful scenery we saw while endlessly yapping:

  • Knitting while listening to classical music

I've been super into knitting for a while now, and when I mean super, i mean like... super. Real ones will remember that one night in February where I did not sleep because everytime I closed my eyes I would think about the yarn I had just ordered and all the things I wanted to make with it, and I'd get so excited I would kick my feet under the blanket. That kept me awake until like 8am where I got out of bed to grab brekkie with my mom. Good times. Besides that, lately, I have also been into classical music. So most of my evenings this week have been spent blasting beethoven on my computer while agressively knitting and let me tell you this has been a deeply meditative experience. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces to listen to, as a total non expert who has discovered chord instruments like fifteen days ago:

of course to properly appreciate them, one should be practicing fiber arts at the same time, but i'm not the boss of you or anything.

That's all for this week, friends! I hope you enjoyed reading this newsletter, feel free to send me thoughts and stuff if you'd like!!
I'll see you next week,
Axl :)
